Aloha

Ok, so after my previous post, you might be surprised to see we have picked Hawaii as our honeymoon destination. I am excited, and would be excited to get away anywhere for 10 days, really, but didn't have Hawaii at the top of my list.  I've been a handful of times with family and for my senior trip, but Jon has never been.  It finally came down to ease and cost. And while you're wedding planning, the honeymoon sadly gets grouped into the never ending list of just-one-more-thing-to-plan. At the end of a long planning process, how can you really say no to a short flight, same currency, no major time change and no language barrier? The faster I can dig my feet in the sand and wrap my hand around a Mai Tai, the better.

This is the part where I ask for any recommendations you may have for the island of Maui. We are staying in Wailea. Thanks!

hawaii is the BEST!!!!! i don't care how unoriginal it is when it comes to honeymooning, you're guaranteed to have a good time and that's all that matters.

never been to maui though so i have no recommendations.

OMG I'm so jealous! Jose has never been to Hawaii either, and it's on the top of our list for our next vacation :) If you're renting a car you should do the "Road to Hana", it's fun and beautiful... lots of water falls, black sand beaches, etc, and it ends at the "7 sacred pools". It's like an all day thing though, and lots of windy roads!

Excellent choice! Unfortunately I always stay in Kaanapali so only know the good eats around there. The one restaurant up that way absolutely worth the drive is Sansei sushi (which I think there might be one in Kihei, too). I'd skip the road to Hana but do sunrise or sunset at Haleakala. Snorkeling at Molokini is breathtaking - they take you out on a boat. Have a great time!

I lived in Maui when I was little, I love it there! Like someone mentioned the "Road to Hana" is so pretty.
Lahaina has good shopping.Stella Blues in Kihei and the Gazebo in Napili both have amazing breakfasts!

Explore the island as much as you can! The Road to Hana IS amazing - especially when you stop to hike & swim in the waterfalls! While you are up on the north side of the island, go to Mama's Fish House for lunch or dinner.

I always stay in Lahaina - which has an adorable little downtown vibe. Good, but expensive restaurants b/c it's so touristy - but you should definitely head down there for a night or two!

Tia Juana's Beach Cantina is in Kaanapali (near Lahaina) and is owned by an awesome Jack Johnson-ish singer named Donovan Frankenreiter. This place always has live music and Donovan stops in for concerts as well. Check the calendar!

Take a drive to Honolua Bay - it is beautiful! And near Lahaina & Kaanapali.

You should definitely take surf lessons, go whale watching (if it is in season), and snorkeling with turtles!

Can you tell I love Maui??! Have FUN!

I realized that you have to do what is best for you during this time; you don't need any additional stress. I would definitely start searching for some Maui food blogs if I were you.

I think you picked a wonderful destination! I love Maui! You must go to Big Beach for the day and of course Paia at for all the cool restaurants {okay I exaggerate, there's only a few but it will keep you busy}. It's amazing the price has come down enough to make it seem like a bargain!
