Weekend Scenes
The backyard is full of ladybugs. And weeds.
A rainy day soup and salad at Lettuce.
Pete is wicked spoiled.
A pin from The Games. What did everyone think of the movie?
I have found the best (blue undertones) red, Fishnet Stockings.
You cannot help but feel like a woman wearing this color.
(Picture does not do it justice)

Good Things
Happy Friday! We made it. Here are some things that made me smile this week when the rain was getting me down.
We got another wrapped canvas photo from our wedding. There was a great deal through One Kings Lane that I couldn't pass up. If you are in the market for one, keep an eye out for sites like OKL, Gilt and HauteLook. They always have canvas deals. (Photo by Kate Harrison.)

A new succulent to tide me over until we can plant our garden in a couple weeks.
Fresh squeezed orange juice. Citrus is so cheap right now they are practically giving away bags at the farmer's market. A great way to use them up is fresh juice.
Remembering a great dinner with friends over fried chicken and mac n cheese at Farmer Brown.
Pete lays in the strangest places. That can't be comfortable, lil guy.

Weekend Scenes
While everyone was getting pumped for football, I went to the library. I haven't been in many years, so I got a shiny new card and got these books. Any reviews? Any I should add to my growing list?
I am such a sucker for cute labels. Jon makes fun.
We made Pete a new perch for his scratching post. I was watching that show My Cat From Hell (it's actually really awesome) and realized that Pete is a tree dweller (as opposed to a bush dweller). So we added the little carpeted perch to make it easier for him to be up high. He loves it.
Is there anything better? I bet I would kick ass on Survivor if I had endless avocados.

While the cat*'s away...
Tonight
he will be
here!
And
this girl will be home with nobody to talk to
except maybe this guy.
But I plan to
eat whatever I want,
and try to forget that in 23 days,
I'll be wearing one** of these!
I'll count down the days until Jon comes back, but hopefully
this guy keeps me company.
Not the most perfect weekend, but I'm working with what I got!
*In case you were wondering who the cat was.
**not my dress, you think i'd give up the goods that easily?

Weekend in pictures
This weekend was a good balance of wedding stuff and just the two of us having a regular before-we-were-planning-a-wedding weekend. Which we can't wait until that is all there is!
Cake tasting carnage taken by my Blackberry. So, we found a bakery and placed our order for our wedding cake. Done and done. Top layer tiramisu, bottom layer, red velvet and the sheet cake, vanilla and chocolate with some chocolate filling.

After the cake tasting, we popped over to the cute little downtown of Benicia.
I read about Lucca in Sunset magazine, so we went there for drinks and apps.
Lucca mary. Made with Absolut Citron and Absolut Peppar. No bueno.
Fish tacos.
Teriyaki wings.
My soon-to-be new initial.
I finally broke down and bought Pete a cat bed. He is a fan.
Beers with friends at Barclays.

Some weekend snaps
We went into SF to order Jon's wedding ring from the jeweler that made mine. We stopped at Dynamo Donuts in the Mission afterwards. We munched on a vanilla bean and caramel del sel. Trendy and Hipster little shop? Yes but still delicious.
Murals in the Mission.
Breakfast for our Mother's Day outing.
Celebrated with my mom, dad and nephew this morning. Some highlights: Landon sticking his hand into the waitress' pocket, presumably looking for candy. Also, while my mom and I were playing with Landon in his room, he gets quiet for a moment and then looks at us and announces "you both have blue eyes!".
Did this post bore you to tears? Sorry. Both heads of household here are pretty under the weather. Which actually worked out for watching all three Giants games this weekend. We swept those Rockies.

Weekend Scenes
It is sad sitting down to do a weekend scenes post when you are suddenly very sick and coughing like crazy. Thank goodness for this kitty in my lap. Cats that sit in your lap are the best. It's like they know when you need a pal. Growing up we always had 2-3 cats and none of them were lap cats! Or a couple of them just preferred my brother and dad. I would stick em on my back, in bassinets, they would always hop away. Pete=the cat I always wanted. OK, side tracked a bit. Here's the weekend:
Enjoying my cute new watch, care of RumbaTime. Now I want more colors!
Creating new bathroom vignettes. Behold the best candle ever.
I have a feeling a lot of you have already made this discovery.
If not, include it in your future purchases.
Bloody mary + darts.
I find I get bored at bars unless there is some sort of activity {besides drinking}.
Wearing my mom's wedding dress! She made this herself in 1972, so I naturally
had to use the 70's filter on Flickr to edit it. Crazy enough, I don't remember ever
seeing it or trying it on all these years. It fit really well. How sweet and simple is it?
The plan is to alter it above the knee for my rehearsal.
This is all with her blessing, I think the words were
"Do whatever you want! It is just going to end up thrown away one day".
It also comes complete with a champagne stain, which I love.

Happy Friday
This weekend we will be celebrating Pete's first birthday (not really, but maybe. Ok, I will. Probably not Jon) and Jon's dad's upcoming 60th birthday. Two big milestones, wouldn't you say?
BTW If you think we are giving Pete champagne, you are crazy. He may get some milk.
P.S. While I've got the cat people's attention. Go here.

Snickerdoodles
Not normally something I would eat, so this was my first time making Snickerdoodles. I always bake something special for Jon on his birthday that he loves, and it usually is Rice Krispie Treats. This year I wanted to switch things up and make something a little more challenging. This recipe is different than other cookies because it calls for Cream of Tartar. Well my store didn't have that, so I bought Tartar Sauce. BIIIIIIIIG DIFFERENCE. I had my doubts so I did a quick Google search before I added it in, phew. Thankfully I had baking powder on hand to substitute in.
{Rolling in cinn and sugar}
{So cute!}
{My fave part. Smushing the balls down with a glass}
{Fluffy lil cooks!}
{Pete wants in on the action}
