Get The Glow: Part Two

Still on my raw foods juicing kick, this time I tried the Thai Green drink. I may have put more pineapple and lime in the mix and less kale. But on the positive, it was actually drinkable! This drink I actually enjoyed at the kitchen table and not while standing over the kitchen sink-if you know what I mean. You don't? Ok, some green drinks are, ahem, hard to get down.

In the mix we have cilantro, kale, pineapple and limes.

Recipe from Raw Foods, Real World

Drink up and enjoy the benefits of cilantro,
which is known to help pull toxic metals out of our bodies.

Let's Get Glowing

I recently dusted off my Raw Foods, Real World book to get on a sort of juicing kick. It seems like at any given moment, someone on my blog reader or twitter is on a cleanse or juicing fast of some sort. I started out with the spicy skin saver since I sort of burned my skin a bit on my 4th of July trip. The author of the raw foods book says that drinking green drinks is an acquired taste.

We have got green grapes, radishes, watercress, cucumber and ginger.
All things that are supposed to build collagen and improve skin's elasticity,
protect against free radical damage and hydrate.

I halved the recipe. And I should mention that I don't have a juicer,
but since there were so many grapes, the blender worked just fine.

Verdict: decent. It wasn't good, but it wasn't bad either.
And are these green drinks ever really good tasting
without loading them up with sugar?
Next up, Thai Green!

Wanted: Workout Motivation

{Keep Calm print in my gym with Tracy Anderson DVD in the reflection}

I write to you in desperation! I need motivation. You may think one would be pretty darn motivated by a wedding in the near future (cough4monthscough) but noooo. I continue to happily munch the carbs + sugar devils. What do you gals do? Workout first thing in the morning? Have a set plan? After work get into workout gear right away? Any tips and tricks would be so helpful.

P.S. My personal trainer is worthless.

Beer Beer Everywhere

As of Sunday I have cut beer out of my diet until the wedding. I am allowing myself wine and the occasional bloody mary. Am I crazy? Are the calories in beer all that higher? I tend to think so. A Sierra Nevada Pale Ale has 175 and a glass of wine has around 80. Right now this is a cake walk, but by the time nice spring and summer weather hits I think it's going to kill me. Motivation please!!
