The Girls

A lot of the color in weddings come from the bridesmaids outfits and that makes it kind of intimidating to chose what your "wedding colors" will be. I think I toyed with every color out there and was unhappy with all of them until I saw the following weddings. Mismatched dresses in light hues, done! It looks so romantic, the girls still look like individuals and the color isn't so demanding or intense.

Liz and Ryan's wedding by Jason and Anna Photography.

I especially love the mismatched shoes in this photo from
Caroline and Andres' wedding by Edyta Szyszlo Photography.

My only question is where do I find these beautiful dresses? I've scoured the usual places and found some, but I need more choices! (Shopbop, Modcloth, J.Crew, Nordstrom, Macys, Express, Mango, BCBG, Revolve Clothing, Zara)...can you think of other places I'm not looking?

I love this idea so much! Check out this blog that I follow & see the beautiful dresses that her bridesmaids are wearing (it's the same idea!): http://fromportlandtopeonies.blogspot.com/2010/10/our-wedding-details.html

Have you tried H&M too? Sometimes they have some pretty light colored dresses there!

I like this idea too, and I agree that the mismatch looks great in these photos.

If you're not uber picky, perhaps you could just give your bridesmaids guidelines and let them loose? Give them a couple color swatches (I've heard some brides use paint samples!) and a framework for how dressy or casual, as well as a conservative line (aka, no dresses more than 5 inches above your knee, or something like that).

I think that would create a really beautiful, unique look.

Have you looked on etsy? There are some cute options from small designers. Also Ann Taylor is doing weddings now. Some cute stuff. There is also the new anthro/urban outfitters wedding company BHLDN

Great choice. Mis-matched dresses look awesome. I'll keep my eye out for you. Definitely check H&M, Urban Outfitters, & Dillard's too. Have your bridesmaids help you look too!

I don't have any suggestions for you unfortunately... but loving your inspiration images. And honestly Holly... I can't WAIT to see how your wedding turns out. I know it's going to be just lovely.

This is such a lovely (and thoughtful) idea. Every wedding I've been in has included the typical (never wear again) bridesmaid dress. This is practical & simple. Lovely.
