I have seen this faux banana ice cream making the blog rounds lately
and decided to give it a whirl. (I first spotted it on Iowa Girl Eats.)
Your one and only ingredient: a frozen banana.
Break it into as many parts as you can.
Put the pieces all in a food processor.
(Or maybe a blender would work? I haven't tried it)
This is going to go through a few weird stages before
it turns into its final creamy stage. Just stick with it.
it turns into its final creamy stage. Just stick with it.
It is also going to make your food processor all weird and off balanced sounding.
I tried this in my 12-cup processor, but it works best in the little one.
Voila! Now I am the last person to try to convince you that a banana
is comparable to ice cream. BUT. This is comparable to ice cream! Seriously.
The few times I have made this Jon takes a bite and looks me straight in the eye
"you're sure this is only a banana??" It is that deceiving!
This is perfect for those late night urges when you are feinding for ice cream or something indulgent.

That's great! Do you know if it works with other frozen fruits?
not sure, maybe mangoes. it has to be one of those fruits that are naturally "creamy" by nature.
OOOH love this idea! Thanks girl. I am going to give it a whirl!
i had this stuff at a raw vegan restaurant and thought it was amazing, then felt ripped off when the server told me it was just a banana. i think they put a little chocolate in it too though!
I happened to have bananas that would have gone bad had I waited a day or two more so I decided to throw them in the freezer.
This came out delish & it satisfied my sugar craving. I'm going to try it with mango for sure. Thanks for the recipe!
perfect pregnancy treat! I just made this the other night :)
Oh I'm definitely going to try this! It looks exactly the same!

this is so good!! I don't do it very often BUT its really yummy!!! {and yeah, I think it could work with mangoes too...I'm allergic to them so I haven't tried lol} xoxo
i still can't get over how simple this is. it's been awhile since i've been near a blender though - downside of traveling.
